摘要: Evidence is provided that illustrates quadrupole ion traps can be used to selectively attenuate strongly bound diatomic ions occurring at the same nominal mass as an analyte of interest. Dissociation rates for TaO+ (D0 ∼ 750 kJ mol−1) are found least order magnitude larger than loss rate Au+ due scattering under “slow heating” resonance excitation conditions qz = 0.67 and using neon bath gas. This difference sufficient selective removal this strongly-bound over mass-to-charge ratio. Other examples trap CID reduction common plasma-generated species also evaluated by examining dissociation GdO+ in presence Yb+, Cu2+ Te+. In each case, a different method applying signals presented, attenuation substantially losses bare metal ions. presented demonstrates accomplished concert with slow analysis scan, thereby providing means (1) eliminating polyatomic (formed plasma or reaction cell) extended range, (2) recovering signal from metal-containing ions, (3) minimizing deleterious secondary reactions product
