摘要: The chemistry of the less familiar elements is a fascinating topic especially for inorganic minded. lanthanides, or rare earths, comprise 5d block periodic table and represent huge array applications from catalysis to lasers, course, imaging agents.1 Recent advances in luminescence magnetic resonance microscopy have, part, been stimulated by extraordinary success development new lanthanide probes. unique properties lanthanides provide deep tool chest chemist, biologist scientist exploit, that exploitation full swing. In this review we focus on two classes probes are subsets larger area metalloimaging: luminescent lanthanides. In Section 2 discuss general design photophysical how these parameters tuned develop bioresponsive optical imaging. 3 brief description MR images acquired MRI contrast agents engineered respond biological events interest. These guiding principles have driven research has produced truly diverse number target specific (or bioactivatable). While other modalities utilize lanthanide-based probes, topics beyond scope review. We direct reader explore some excellent reviews important areas radiometals multimodal imaging.2–5
