摘要: Biominerals have complex and heterogeneous architectures, hence diffraction experiments with spatial resolutions between 500 nm 10 μm are extremely useful to characterize them. X-ray beams in this size range now routinely produced at many synchrotrons. This chapter provides a review of the different hard scattering techniques, used conjunction efficient, state-of-the-art focusing optics. These include monochromatic microdiffraction, polychromatic (Laue) microbeam small-angle scattering. We present some most relevant discoveries made field biomineralization using these approaches.
