Transforming former state-owned companies into market competitors in Poland: The ABB experience

摘要: Abstract Asea Brown Boveri is one of the largest, and probably most experienced, investors in Poland. It has made several acquisitions different, even if somewhat related industries. In case each acquisition ABB had to restructure management turn a former state-owned firm into lean market competitor. While overall process was very successful, learned few tough lessons about implementation Western-style systems successful newly democratized countries Eastern Europe. The important that hard (structure procedures) soft (human resource) aspects acquired firms should be developed framed simultaneously. Otherwise restructuring could paradoxically reinforce some common unacceptable features firms.
