Neonatal nurses’ knowledge and beliefs regarding kangaroo care with preterm infants in an Irish neonatal unit

摘要: Abstract Aim To investigate Irish neonatal nurses' knowledge and beliefs of Kangaroo care. Background Although kangaroo care existed in other countries for 25 years, it is a new occurrence A review the literature suggests that, while demonstrates benefits both infants parents, some nurses do not exhibit an awareness current research, or hold positive towards its use with preterm infants. As they have most parent-infant contact influence over whether carried out, their are importance. Method quantitative, descriptive design ( n  = 62) was used. Findings Fifty six (90.3%) believed safe alternative stable growing infants, agreeing on parents The overall level varied from good to excellent, lowest score being 35/51. Results indicated uncertainty regarding intubated requiring blood pressure support, umbilical lines phototherapy. This need provide education foster development more increase staff potential adverse effects.
