摘要: Traditionally, leaf infusions of Brachylaena discolor are used for the treatment of diabetes and renal conditions. Therefore, aim this study was to evaluate effect a methanolic extract of B. discolor in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rat model. Diabetes induced in Wistar rats by an intraperitoneal injection STZ; blood glucose levels greater than 20 mmol/L measured after 7 days confirmed stable mellitus state. Two doses test (50 150 mg/ml) were administered daily via oral dosing both STZ-induced control rats. Blood obtained from tail vein measure effects on biochemical profile over 28 days. The discolor at caused significant reduction at 7, 14, 21 when compared with normal (negative control). Significant differences also observed alkaline phosphatase, creatinine, total bilirubin body weights treated untreated rats, metformin Findings suggest that B. discolor exhibits anti-hyperglycaemic activity rats.
