摘要: Abstract We review the basic features of transition radiation and how they are used for design modern Transition Radiation Detectors (TRD). The discussion will include various realizations radiators as well a detection media aspects detector construction. With regard to particle identification we assess different methods efficient discrimination particles outline quantification this property. Since number comprehensive reviews already exist, predominantly focus on detectors currently operated at LHC. To lesser extent also cover some other TRDs, which planned or being in balloon space-borne astro-particle physics experiments.
