摘要: Expression of the invasion/metastasis suppressor, E-cadherin, is diminished or lost in thyroid carcinomas. Yet, mutational inactivation E-cadherin rare. Herein, we show that this loss associated with hypermethylation 5' CpG island a panel human cancer cell lines. This aberrant methylation evident 83% papillary carcinoma, 11% follicular 40% Hurthle's and 21% poorly differentiated Contrary to previous reports, majority these carcinomas express but often within cytoplasm rather than at surface. Together, our data indicate suppressor function frequently compromised papillary, cell, carcinoma by epigenetic biochemical events.
