摘要: In order to extend sociological thinking about socialization in secondary schools, I have tested the contention that social status of a high school independently affects college-going intentions its students, using data from 1955 sample students 518 American schools. The effect, although weak, is found be more an effect social-status composition than formal organization school. positive effects are mask negative effect; schools with higher average ability, any given ability and less likely college intentions, presumably because standards competition rise within When this hidden held constant, on intention increases.
