Attitudes towards different containment measures: a questionnaire survey in Finnish adolescent psychiatry

摘要: Use of containment measures in the treatment underage patients is controversial, and empirical evidence about which methods are preferred lacking. This study aimed to investigate attitudes staff towards various field adolescent psychiatry. The sample comprised 128 Finnish nurses doctors working closed wards with 13- 17-year-old patients. were studied using Attitude Containment Measures Questionnaire. three most approval as-needed medication, transfer specialist locked mechanical restraint. method least was net bed. Total scores for very similar among doctors. differences appeared restraint constant observation, showing a more critical attitude. Women tended be than men, but only intramuscular medication reached statistical significance. results emphasize importance wide-ranging in-depth training as well difficulty changing practices psychiatric while so strongly pro-containment.
