摘要: Summary The DNA of 5 species eubacteria and archaebacteria was isolated by isopyknic centrifugation in metrizamide density gradients. It is associated with high amounts (protein: ≈ 0.25 w/w) small, acid-soluble proteins molecular weights ranging from 5,500 to 14,300. Electrophoreses these according charge showed that nearly all them are very basic, some the archaebacterial even as basic calf thymus histones. Antibodies against histone-like protein Escherichia coli formed precipitates extracts 13 eubacteria, which were phylogenetically quite distant , but not archaebacteria. Dodecylsulfate Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis yielded bands identical those obtained after centrifugation. No precipitation could be detected or Thermoplasma reacted only corresponding extract, other e. g. Sulfolobus, Thermoproteus, Methanobacterium, Methanococcus Methanosarcina . They also did yield
