摘要: This study investigates some of the key determinants vehicle ownership (number two-wheelers and cars) trip frequency at household level using data from Chennai city, India. Potential endogeneity between number vehicles present in a is tested systematically. Vehicle represented two ways: (1) The total (2) cars household. latter approach more suitable for Indian context, view its disaggregate nature fact that effects explanatory factors differ considerably types vehicles. Furthermore, representation enables testing potential categories. empirical results indicate relationship indeed endogenous. Disregarding this can lead to spurious significance failure detect other important factors. Two-wheeler car-ownership decisions also appear be correlated unobserved level. Some interesting implications models demand modeling management policies are discussed.
