摘要: Plants belonging to Withania genus are well-known medicinal plants and commonly used as herbal medicine in the Ayurvedic health system. These belong family Solanaceae comprise of 23 known species distributed North Africa, Middle East, Asia, Mediterranean, Canary Islands. However, only six species, namely, somnifera (L.) Dunal, coagulans (Stocks) Dunal, adpressa Coss, aristata (Aiton) Pauquy, frutescens (L.) Pauquy, obtusifolia Tackh, extensively investigated with regard their pharmacological properties bioactive constituents. Therefore, this chapter, traditional uses validations plant-derived constituents discussed. Applications drug discovery explained by discussing semisynthetic modifications structure-activity relationships.
