摘要: Background Few studies have evaluated the trends in head and neck cancer developing countries. The purpose of this study was to estimate incidence human papillomavirus–related (HPV-R) HPV-unrelated (HPV-U) Lima, Peru, from 1987 2008. Methods Registry data a single public hospital were used age sex-specific rates. Annualized percent change estimated using Poisson regression. Results The rate total cancers, HPV-U, HPV-R 11.9, 10.9, 0.8, respectively, per 100,000 person-years. Significant increases HPV-U observed men aged 30 44 (2.5%/year) women 15 29 (4.2%/year), (3.4%/year), 60 74 (2.0%/year). only among 45 59 (9.6%/year). Conclusion Although increased exposure tobacco, occupational carcinogens, changing sexual behaviors could be influencing these trends, additional analyses assess generalizability findings other regions Peru are needed. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
