摘要: Although the efficacy of chlorine disinfection under controlled laboratory conditions is well known, effectiveness field point-of-use (POU) still not clearly understood and may be impacted by a variety factors. This study evaluated POU in rural Ecuador typical use compared this with conditions. While reductions indicator organisms were slightly higher households that used chlorination, no significant differences seen between employing chlorination (1–1.5 log10 median for chlorinating 0.31–0.55 nonchlorinating households, depending on organism). In contrast, reduction all test was found when simulating laboratory. demonstrates can considerably less effective actual than would predicted based its (3–5 chlorinated 0–0.3 non-chlorinated samples). Human factors (including improper storage dosing) uncontrolled water quality effects are hypothesized to impact significantly disinfection.
