摘要: The spatial organization of individuals in populations (their spacing system) can be highly variable even among the same species1. As systems have important consequences for ecological processes such as population regulation, competition and mating systems2,3, there been many attempts to explore factors that may cause this variation. For mammals, it has argued distribution sexually receptive females is most factor determining system males, whereas habitat characteristics are females4–6. This difficult test experimentally requires manipulations opposite sex without changing other properties environment7. Here, I present a novel experimental procedure achieve demonstrate voles indeed an determinant but not females. However, effects on males different from those predicted by theoretical studies.
