摘要: MicroRNAs (miRs) are small, non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression and have been implicated in many pathological conditions. Significant progress has made to unveil their role lipid metabolism. This review aims at summarizing the of different miRs hepatic assembly secretion apolipoprotein B (apoB)-containing lipoproteins. Overproduction and/or impaired clearance these lipoproteins from circulation increase plasma concentrations lipids enhancing risk for cardiovascular disease. So far, three miRs, miR-122, miR-34a, miR-30c shown modulate production apoB-containing low density In this review, we will first provide a brief overview metabolism lipoprotein orient readers steps be regulated by miRs. Then, discuss each miR on atherosclerotic burden. Furthermore, summarize mechanistic studies explaining how synthesis, fatty acid oxidation, secretion. Finally, briefly highlight potential use as therapeutic drug treating diseases. article is part Special Issue entitled: lipid/energy related diseases edited Carlos Fernandez-Hernando Yajaira Suarez.
