Prevalence and Factors Affecting Dysmenorrhea in Female University Students: Effect on General Comfort Level

摘要: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and affecting factors dysmenorrhea its effects on overall comfort among female university students. This a cross-sectional study. research carried out between October November 2013 at in Ankara. conducted with 200 data were analyzed using frequencies, means, SD, χ(2) tests, independent t tests analysis variance. Data collected an interview questionnaire, visual analog scale (VAS) General Comfort Questionnaire. mean age students group 20.85 ± 2.15 years. 84%. severity pain 5.78 2.45 VAS. present found that 45.8% experienced moderate menstrual most common co-occurring symptoms irritability (34.6%) fatigue (21.5%). One-fourth consulted advice physician commonly used methods for analgesics (69%), heat application (56.5%), rest (71.4%). Family history dysmenorrhea, education about menstruation, frequency cycle identified as important development (p < .05). general score (2.57 0.25) lower than without condition (2.65 0.23). Also, use management increase students' levels. Therefore, it is nurses educate advise adolescents young women dysmenorrhea.
