摘要: OBJECTIVE To ascertain the prevalence of menstrual problems in adolescent girls and their health-seeking behaviour. DESIGN Questionnaire survey on menstruation, problems, medical consultation, factors influencing seeking care. SETTING Secondary schools catchment area a tertiary teaching hospital Hong Kong. PARTICIPANTS A total 5609 from 10 secondary schools. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Prevalence behaviour girls. RESULTS The mean age at menarche were 15.1 (standard deviation, 2.0) years 12.3 (1.1) years, respectively. menorrhagia, dysmenorrhoea, symptoms 17.9% (95% confidence interval, 16.9-19.1%), 68.7% (67.7-70.3%), 37.7% (36.7-39.3%), (P<0.001) dysmenorrhoea increased with gynaecological (calendar minus menarche), whilst proportion having short or long cycles decreased (P=0.002 P=0.009). One eight reported been absent school, only 6.4% had sought care because menses. Multivariate analysis indicated that for menorrhagia was dependent opinion family member (P=0.005), its severity (P=0.046) anxiety about embarrassing questions (P=0.039). CONCLUSIONS Kong Chinese is high causes significant disruption to school daily activities. However, minority seek advice.
