Community Information Needs of the Urban Population in Israel

摘要: The community information needs of the urban Israeli pop ula tion were studied using a telephone survey 304 residents medium-sized city in central Israel and interviews with com munity offi cials city’s social system. purpose study was to identify ur ban its preferences, order establish fi rst formal public library’s centre Israel. Ap proximately 60% problems cited by subjects are con centrated categories: neighbourhood matters; stu dies; transportation; government en ter tainment, leisure recreation. In most categories per centage local topics exceeds percentage general top ics (i.e. not necessarily related where live). Of all (1,067) raised subjects, consulting dedicated sour ces 41.2%, formation sources 29.6%. ndings show that clearly prefer channels offer personal contact (e.g. or face-to-face meet ing professionals). contrast many other studies, informal contacts family mem bers, friends) ranked last place. interviews, admitted they receive numerous requests for assistance solving on wide range their sphere activity. analysis data from both methods indicated lack suffi cient accessible un derscored importance libraries as major mun ity centres.
