Economic Valuation of Health Care Services in Public Health Systems: A Study about Willingness to Pay (WTP) for Nursing Consultations

摘要: Background Identifying the economic value assigned by users to a particular health service is of principal interest in planning service. The aim this study was evaluate perception nursing consultation primary care (PC) its users. Methods and Results Economic using contingent valuation methodology. A total 662 from 23 centers were included. Data on demographic socioeconomic characteristics, needs, pattern usage, satisfaction with provided compiled. validity response evaluated an explanatory mixed-effects multilevel model order assess factors associated according welfare theory. Response reliability also evaluated. Subjects included indicated average Willingness Pay (WTP) €14.4 (CI 95%: €13.2–15.5; median €10) Accept [Compensation] (WTA) €20.9 €19.6–22.2; €20). Average area income, personal duration, home visit, education level correlated greater WTP. Women older subjects showed lower Fixed parameters explained 8.41% residual variability, clustering different 4–6% variability. influence income WTP each center. responses for WTA subgroup consistent when reassessed after 2 weeks (intraclass correlation coefficients 0.952 0.893, respectively). Conclusions The services within PC public system clearly perceived user. influenced characteristics their environment, unique method useful making explicit services.
