Globular structure generation and mechanical properties of thixoformed magnesium alloy

摘要: For the alloy to be shaped in semisolid state, it must have an appreciable melting range; before thixoforming, microstructures consist of solid metal spheroids a liquid matrix. Equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) was used as process predeform cast AZ80 magnesium partial remelting. The results show that fine and equiaxed grains are obtained due dynamic recrystallisation during ECAE. Following remelting each case, microstructure consisted globular with film along grain boundaries. During remelting, sizes at 560°C were smaller than those 550°C.
