摘要: The European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is used as a model for many human diseases, yet comparatively little known of its genetics, particularly at important loci such the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). This study investigated genetic diversity and evolutionary history DQA gene in range leporid species by analysing coding sequence exon 2 intron 53 individuals 16 different species. Fifty alleles were detected, including 13 novel alleles. In rabbit, highest levels observed wild rabbits from Portugal, with England domestic showing less diversity. Within sample, several recombination events detected trans-specific evolution was evidenced, both being general characteristics mammalian MHC genes. Positive selection implicated operating on six codons within 2, which are also subject to positive other mammals. Some these positions putative antigen recognition sites underline importance pathogen-driven
