摘要: Abstract Echocardiography was used to evaluate cardiac anatomy and function in 25 patients with acromegaly. Eighty per cent of the (20 25) had abnormal echocardiograms including 13 without other signs or symptoms involvement. The most common abnormality increased left ventricular mass concentric wall thickening, which found 64 (16 patients. Increased transverse dimension at end diastole 36 (nine Other echocardiographic abnormalities included atrial aortic root enlargement (three patients), disproportionate septal thickening (one patient) depressed ejection fraction patients). Since five no history hypertension hyperthyroidism, cannot be ascribed solely these conditions commonly associated Furthermore, degree hypertrophy showed significant correlation pre- post-treatment growth hormone levels, known duration acromegaly prior treatment. Thus, although pathophysiology significance acromegalic is not yet fully understood, echocardiography does provide a sensitive tool for detecting such before they are otherwise apparent.
