摘要: Abstract The behavior of the ionosphere up to 200 km was observed in a series rocket flights at Fort Churchill, Manitoba, during solar eclipse 20 July 1963. Six Nike Apache rockets were instrumented measure electron density, temperature, Lyman-α radiation and band X-rays (44–60 A). density E-region (90–160 km) reduced without any significant change shape profile. data show time lag between minimum area visible disk much less than 3 min. Comparison with ionosonde indicates value 1× 10−7 cm3 sec−1 for effective recombination coefficient E-layer. observations also indicate that ionizing causing E-layer is proportion intensity measured X-rays. variation temperature due found be small. D-region (50–90 shows more complex variation. Between 79 89 km, about min indicated, but lower heights, as greater smaller. Below 72 effect on pronounced heights taken 8 15 per cent visible, not observation 60 visible.
