摘要: Genes playing a role in carcinogenesis have often been identified through analysis of recurrent chromosomal rearrangements. Although such rearrangements are well known leukemias, lymphomas, and sarcomas, they not characterized carcinomas. In the October 28, 2005 issue Science, study by Tomlins et al. uses bioinformatics techniques to identify candidate oncogenic changes based on outlier gene expression. The authors determined that two ETS transcription factors, ERG ETV1 were outliers prostate cancer. group reports fusions 5' untranslated region TMPRSS2 majority cancer samples containing cell lines fusion gene, androgen appears play mediating overexpression.
