摘要: The ability of heterotrophic flagellates to survive and adapt increasing salinities was investigated in this study. Whole soil samples were subjected corresponding marine conditions clonal cultures used perform growth adaptation experiments at a wide range different (0-50 ppm). More morphotypes tolerant elevated NaCl levels found road verge that heavily exposed de-icing salt than less soils, though there fewer intolerant all soils examined. Heterotrophic isolated on freshwater medium from non-exposed unable thrive above 15 ppt, showed reduced rates even low (1-5 ppt). findings suggest are their aquatic relatives, possibly due long evolutionary history soil, support the idea identical morphospecies may differ considerably with respect physiology
