摘要: The Vietnam Era Twin Study of Aging (VETSA) is a large-scale investigation cognitive aging from middle to later age. intended sample 1440 twin subjects recruited the Registry (VETR), registry middle-aged male-male pairs who both served in military during conflict (1965-1975). VETSA employs multitrait multimethod approach assessment focus on genetic and environmental contributions processes over time, as well relative health, social, personality, other contextual factors. domains episodic memory, working abstract reasoning, inhibitory executive functioning are assessed through neuropsychological testing. In addition, obtains participant's score Armed Forces Qualification Test, taken at time induction into around age 20 years, readministers test. Two projects - Cortisol Magnetic Resonance Imaging also progress using subsamples twins. Prior waves data collection by investigators VETR have provided historical physical mental while future planned every 5 years. These methods will provide multiple phenotypes same individuals with regard personality interpersonal risk protective factors, stress cortisol regulation, structural brain correlates ageing processes.
