摘要: Bacteria organized in biofilms are a common cause of relapsing or persistent infections, and the ultimate implant-associated osteomyelitis. In these patients, staphylococci prevalent. as relatively resistant towards antibiotics biocides, it is also assumed that they may escape host defense mechanisms. this context, we have studied how polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN), "first line defense" against bacterial infection, interact with generated vitro. We found PMN recognize activate defense-associated reactions, including phagocytosis, degranulation lactoferrin elastase, DNA release well. Destruction ensues, showing not inherently protected attack by phagocytic cells.
