摘要: The impairment of homeostatic mechanisms in ageing becomes often apparent upon physiological or pathological stimulation. We have previously shown that fasting and refeeding revealed the existence age-related changes carbohydrate lipid metabolism. Because fuel metabolism is partially controlled by corticosteroids we decided to determine effects on adrenal gland morphometry, ACTH, corticosterone serum levels young (5 mo) (20 old male Wistar rats. Fasting for 48 h did not change ACTH both age groups. level after 24 However, old, but animals, resulted decrease concentration. relative weight (% body weight) significantly with (p=0.05). induced rats ones increase weight, volume reticular zone. Refeeding reduced volume, fascicular zone decreased total due a decline volumes zones. In It concluded ageing-dependent secretion corticosterone, key hormone prolonged stress response.
