摘要: The mitochondrial respiratory chain (MRC) and ATP synthase (complex V) play an essential role in cellular energy production by the process of oxidative phosphorylation. In addition to inborn errors metabolism, as well secondary causes from disease pathophysiology, impairment phosphorylation can result drug toxicity. These 'off-target' pharmacological effects occur a direct inhibition MRC enzyme activity, induction stress, uncoupling phosphorylation, membrane structure or disruption replication DNA. purpose this review is focus on off-target toxicity associated with both commonly used pharmacotherapies topical 'weight loss' agent. mechanisms drug-induced will be discussed together putative therapeutic strategies counteract adverse pharmacotherapy.
