摘要: Abstract An important task in conservation biology is to assess the spatial scale pertinent for species protection since some may require throughout their distribution, others only part of range. Once this done, can be correctly identified listing at different administrative levels (e.g. continental, national, and local). Here, we propose an objective method list taxa nested based on three criteria (responsibility, rarity vulnerability). We tested using quantitative data abundance decline orchids France. The proposed enables increased status regions where species’ diversity are higher, gives priority which individual unit has high responsibility allows integration levels. also locally rare distribution limits avoids repetition across second-level units. use such as could contribute a standardised system setting that integrates geographic relation protection.
