摘要: The common palm civet, Paradoxurus hermaphroditus , was studied in Royal Chitwan National Park, Nepal, to determine daily and seasonal movements relation availability of food predation pressure. Five adult animals (two females three males) were captured fitted with radiocollars located every other day. Each animal followed for 12 consecutive h/month. Palm civets strictly nocturnal; activity began at ca. 1800 h ended 0400 h. Animals more active on dark nights than bright, moonlit typically rested during the day crown vine-covered trees. Seeds fruits found 84.5% 193 scats that collected December 1989 June 1990. In April, when ripe not readily available, a shift diet from vertebrate invertebrate prey occurred. also fed nectar Bombax ceiba sap stems Vallaris solanacea . Home-range sizes varied inversely amount available. A high degree home-range overlap indicated individuals territorial. Documented exclusive nocturnal suggest are vulnerable by large carnivores park. Strong pressure temporal spatial variation resources may account apparent absence territorial behavior this population.
