Age differences in alcohol drinking patterns among Norwegian and German hospital doctors – a study based on national samples

摘要: Aims: To describe and discuss the alcohol drinking patterns of younger generation hospital doctors in Norway Germany – respectively abstainers, frequent drinkers, episodic heavy drinkers hazardous drinkers. Methods: Data were collected nationwide postal surveys among (2000) (2006). A representative sample 1898 German 602 Norwegian aged 27–65 years included analyses (N=2500). Alcohol measured using first three items AUDIT AUDIT-C Germany, scores ≥5 (ranking from 0 to 12) indicating drinking. Episodic was defined by intake ≥60g ethanol, on one occasion, at least once a week. Frequent who drank alcoholic beverages twice Abstainers persons no alcohol. The performed separately for age groups (27–44 versus 45–65 years) genders. Results: Compared 45 65 samples, tend have higher rates infrequent moderate amount drinks, lower Conclusion: showed tendencies healthier habits. Changes professional life, attitude towards consumption, may go some way explaining these findings.
