摘要: Background This study aimed to define the cause of death in patients undergoing elective infrarenal aortic reconstruction. Methods Members Joint Vascular Research Group who had collected details prospectively reconstruction provided information on those died. Results Details 3786 were obtained. Some 171 died (133 following abdominal aneurysm (AAA) and 38 after aortofemoral bifurcation graft (AFBG) for occlusive disease). The mortality rate AAA repair was 4·8 per cent, rising 16 cent if combined with either renal or distal (P < 0·001). Similar results obtained AFBG (3·4 11 respectively, P first major complication encountered cardiac (39·8 cent), followed by bleeding (20·5 respiratory (13·5), gut (5·3 limb ischaemia (6·4 cent). Bleeding commoner compared that disease 0·05). Eighty-six (50·3 cent) from complication. Of remainder, 45 (53 developed multisystem organ failure (MSOF). most commonly involved systems cardiac, renal. Conclusion Cardiac problems reconstruction.
