摘要: Abstract Objectives to assess the quality of care patients undergoing abdominal aortic surgery. Materials three hundred and forty-six surgery for aneurysmal or occlusive disease whom 51 died. Methods we developed a mortality registration system classify causes death, evaluate shortcomings in treatment, determine extent agreement between clinical diagnosis necropsy findings. Results main cause death 11 (22%) was poor condition at admission, while 76% ( n =39) died due postoperative complications. Myocardial infarction most frequently encountered complication. Deficiencies medical treatment were observed 10 deaths (20%). Autopsy performed 33 (65%), revealing cases (30%) major discrepancy pre- postmortem Six autopsies revealed that myocardial had been missed during period. Conclusions autopsy reports are essential accurately estimating complication rates as discrepancies 30% cases.
