摘要: Objective: To determine the frequency and outcome of electrolyte imbalance in seriously ill children admitted Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) a public sector hospital Karachi. Methods: All between ages one month to 12 years PICU from May 2017 October were included. Blood samples drawn baseline sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium phosphorous followed 24 hourly or earlier, if needed (Those who had at admission on subsequent repeat labs as per protocol). Results: A total 101 included study. Electrolyte was seen 84%. single noted 30.58%. Hypocalcemia most frequent abnormality 57.6%. Among expiries during study period 91% imbalance. Mortality within 48 hours duration stay also increased these patients. Conclusion: is an important prognostic indicator critically patients. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.35.4.286 How cite this:Naseem F, Saleem A, Mahar IA, Arif F. paediatric patients.
