摘要: The aim of this study was to evaluate municipal sludge (MS) for its toxic potential by Allium cepa and also understand the effect vermicomposting on reduction toxicity, if any. Municipal vermicomposted (VS) were evaluated. Elemental analysis MS showed presence heavy metals. Morphological studies A. roots indicated coiled wavy exposure but no root abnormality reported in VS. Under genotoxic studies, inhibition mitotic index concentration dependent control values 11.76 gradually reduced 5.40 at 10% leachate whereas increased 9.48 VS leachate. Exposure induced chromosomal aberrations, micronucleus formation binucleate cells a dose manner. However, aberrations observed significant they insignificant wet dry weight roots, elongation chlorophyll contents as did not produce considerable reduction. 20.312 g 3.250 respectively 10.82 1.68 an increase 18.127 2.53 respectively. Total control, 0.245 g, 0.162 0.214 It could be concluded that remarkable extent might beneficial bioremediation recommended before land filling.
