摘要: Bacopa monniera (BM) is well known for its neuropharmacological effects. Our previous studies indicated the adaptogenic effect of standardized extract BM in various stress models. In present study, was evaluated on acute (AS) and chronic unpredictable (CUS) induced changes plasma corticosterone monoamines-noradrenaline (NA), dopamine (DA) serotonin (5-HT) cortex hippocampus regions brain rats. Panax root powder (Panax quinquefolium) taken as standard. Subjecting animals to AS (immobilization 150 min once only) CUS (different stressors 7 days) resulted significant elevation levels, which significantly countered by treatment with at a dose 40 80 mg/kg p.o. similar effects quinquefolium (PQ) 100 exposure increased levels 5-HT decreased NA content both while DA regions. regimen, NA, were depleted brain. Treatment (40 mg/kg) attenuated but ineffective normalizing model, whereas PQ reverted back stress. pretreatment elevated Hence, our study indicates that activity might be due normalization alteration monoamines like brain, are more vulnerable stressful conditions analogous PQ.
