摘要: HIV increases the risk of OSSN. Here we investigate other factors in a case-control study from Uganda with 318 cases (48 CIN I, 66 II, 81 III and 123 invasive disease) 762 controls. Initial analyses were stratified by serostatus (204 202 controls seropositive), but since findings similar infected uninfected people, combined results are presented here. The OSSN increased increasing time spent direct sunlight (p(trend) = 0.003, adjusted for age, sex, residential district serostatus): compared to those who reported spending up 1 hr day sunlight, was 1.7 (95% Confidence Interval [CI] 1.2-2.4) reporting 2-4-hr exposure 1.8 CI 1.1-3.1) 5+ hr. also among people previous injury affected eye (OR 2.4, 95% 1.2-4.5). Pinguecula nasal quadrant unaffected evident on clinical examination 98% (293/300) 91% same right (246/271) 6.4, 2.5-16.1). We confirm associations solar ultraviolet radiation presence pinguecula report role ocular trauma aetiology did not identify any additional that point an underlying infectious cause, although this is area on-going research.
