摘要: Recent findings established that primary targets of HIV/SIV are lymphoid cells within the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Focus has therefore shifted to T-cells expressing α4β7 integrin which facilitates trafficking GI tract via binding MAdCAM-1. Approaches better understand role α4β7+ in pathogenesis include their depletion or blockade synthesis, and/or homing capabilities vivo. Such studies can ideally be conducted rhesus macaques (RM), non-human primate model AIDS.
