摘要: When allergen is inhaled it comes into contact with the epithelium of respiratory tract. This triggers multiple events that can ultimately stimulate development allergic asthma. Some allergens, like house dust mite, contain active proteolytic enzymes break down tight epithelial cell junctions. Others act to enhance inflammation by stimulating cells make proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines. Alterations in airways include mucous metaplasia eosinophil recruitment. In this review, culture experiments as well several animal models human patient data are utilized examine mechanisms which allergens alter normal homeostasis. Environmental pollutants, such ozone environmental tobacco smoke, allergen-mediated effects on epithelium.
