Support for power efficient mobile video playback on simultaneous hybrid display

摘要: Mobile devices, such as smartphones, e-books, and tablets, have limited battery capability because of the constraint size mobility requirement. However large color displays on those devices put more tensions this situation consume a portion total power. A TOLED-EPD hybrid display that integrates transparent OLED (TOLED) with an electrophoretic (EPD) has been emerging to reduce energy usage displays. The technology information selectively one based update rate content, thus reduces usage. In paper, we propose design mobile video playback, Decoder4Hybrid, for proposed approach supports encoded playback frequency each block, which is exploited by controller determine should be used show MPEG block. fast DCT-based heuristic algorithm detect changes between frames at block level minimal computation cost. Experimental results can save up 40% power acceptable quality.
