Serum haptoglobin dynamics in pigs vaccinated or not vaccinated against porcine circovirus type 2

摘要: The present work describes the serum haptoglobin (Hp) dynamics in piglets vaccinated and non-vaccinated with a commercial porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) vaccine at 3 weeks of age, its relationship average daily weight gain (ADWG). field study was carried out on two farms (A B) previous clinical history PCV2-systemic disease (PCV2-SD). aim to assess whether Hp could be used as surrogate marker PCV2 efficacy. infection confirmed by quantitative real time PCR (qPCR) pigs from both farms, but PCV2-SD only diagnosed farm A. No statistically significant relation found between concentration percentage qPCR positive animals treatment applied (PCV2 vaccination) farms. On other hand, using linear regression analysis, negative correlation area under curve (AUCHp) ADWG observed for A (p < 0.00001) B (p = 0.01). Based obtained determination coefficient (R2) values, AUCHp explained 20.0 11.6% B, respectively. supports that measurement acute phase proteins may an indicator pig it not apparently feasible use
