摘要: Background The detection of infectious bacteria in blood culture samples is important for diagnosis and treatment, but this requires 1-2 days at least, not adequate as a rapid test. Therefore, we have investigated the diagnostic ability optimal cutoff value procalcitonin (PCT) C-reactive protein (CRP) predicting bacteremias using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves relative cumulative frequency distribution (RCD) curves. Methods A case-control study was performed inpatients (852 subjects: 426 positive cultures negative cultures) from January 1 to December 31, 2014. We retrospectively their chemistry findings recorded period electronic medical records. Results Area under ROC curve PCT CRP were 0.79 0.66, respectively. values 0.5 μg/L with sensitivity 70% specificity 50.0 mg/L 63% 65% CRP. When treated reference, odds ratio (OR) 71.11 hazard (HR) 6.27 >2.0 μg/L, risk positivity markedly elevated. levels significantly higher population Gram-negative rod (GNR) infections than Gram-positive coccal (GPC) infections. Conclusions elevation associated bacteremias. superior indicator bacteremias, discriminating bacterial nonbacterial infections, determining species.
