摘要: Research conducted over the last decades has established that medial part of posterior parietal cortex (PPC) is crucial for controlling visually guided actions in human and non-human primates. Within this cortical sector there area V6A, a node parietofrontal network involved arm movement control both monkeys humans. However, encoding action-in-depth by V6A cells had been not studied till recently. Recent neurophysiological studies show existence neurons signals related to distance targets from eyes. These are integrated, often at level single cells, with information about direction gaze, thus spatial location 3D space. Moreover, eye position seem be further exploited two additional levels neural processing: (a) determining whether located peripersonal space or not, (b) shaping tuning activity toward reachable targets. findings line putative homolog regions humans together point role PPC vergence angle eyes Besides its also depth, several demonstrate involvement non-spatial processes.
