摘要: Abstract Several molecules of the ∅X174 gene H protein, a component phage spike, become firmly associated with host cell upon infection and resist protease treatment cell. The protein was recovered in association DNA converted to duplex replicative form bound several different regions DNA. Similar results were obtained related S13. Cells infected temperature-sensitive mutant S13 failed make parental at restrictive temperature, although binding eclipse occurred normal levels. Since penetration is coupled replication tightly form, this presumed participate first stage synthesis. These findings basis for general proposal “pilot protein” as minor virus multiple functions adsorption, penetration, early intracellular stages viral chromosome expression.
