摘要: The products of {varphi}X cistrons II, III, and VII are demonstrated to affect the attachment phage its host Escherichia coli C; therefore, by inference, these influence, directly or indirectly, structure proteins in virus particle. Two mutations which alter kinetics, ts79 cistron III h VII, also electrophoretic mobility emphasize role charge interaction with host. kinetics for attached go into "eclipse" first-order biphasic; about 85% eclipse at one rate (ke = 0.86 min^–1) remainder do so a distinctly lower 0.21 min^–1). No yet identified process. lowest temperature is detected 19 C. Arrhenius activation energy has high value 36.6 kcal/mole, indicating cooperative nature event.
