Subacute hematogenous osteomyelitis: are biopsy and surgery always indicated?

摘要: Forty-four consecutive cases of subacute osteomyelitis admitted at our institution over a 12-year period were retrospectively reviewed to assess the effectiveness conservative versus surgical treatment this condition and determine indications for open biopsy debridement. Twenty-four treated with antibiotics only, 20 had debridement followed by antibiotics. Except one case that received inadequate antibiotic therapy, all patients responded well treatment, whether or surgical. At an average follow-up 18 months, there no recurrences.
