摘要: Management of Canada geese (Branta canadensis) can be a balance between providing sustained harvest opportunity while not allowing populations to become overabundant and cause damage. In this paper, we focus on the Atlantic population use stochastic dynamic programming determine optimal strategy over range plausible models for dynamics. There is evidence suggest that exhibits significant age structure, it possible reconstruct structure from surveys. Consequently function composition, as well abundance, population. The objective maximize maintaining number breeding adults in specified upper lower limits. addition, total capacity limited there uncertainty about strength density-dependence. We find under density-independent model, maximized by at highest acceptable abundance. However if limited, then long-term size than level, reduce risk growing an unacceptably large size. Under proposed density-dependent intermediate level bounds size; limits have little effect It clear density-dependence constraints significantly affect Model discrimination might achieved long term, continuing meet management goals, adopting adaptive strategy.
